Date Played – After making a poor start in the Euro 96 qualifying group, Wales were expecting a huge thrashing when they travelled to Dusseldorf to meet future European Champions Germany. Wales surprised everybody when they took the lead after eight minutes with a goal scored by their striker, Dean Saunders. The Welsh shocked the Germans with a heroic and determined display and despite the score line finishing 1-1, Wales earned a deserved point and it moved them off the bottom of the table and gave them a new found confidence and much need boost and most importantly restored pride after coming on the back of a terrible run.
