In the year 1991, Giggs became the youngest ever football player to play for Wales and nearly helped his country qualify for Euro 92. He soon became a regular fixture in the Welsh side, however to this day he has only made 56 appearances for the country, despite still playing. He is considered by many as being a world class football player and has won eight league titles with Manchester United and the champions League. He has now made over 600 appearances playing for Manchester United.
Dean Saunders

Saunders is one of Wales’s most prolific ever goal grabbers. During his international career that spanned a staggering 15 years, he scored 22 goals for his nation, including a winning goal against Brazil in a friendly in September 1991. In total, Saunders made 75 appearances for his nation, making his debut in 1986 and final appearances in 2001. He is only behind Ian Rush, Trevor Ford and Ivor Allchurch in the Welsh goal scoring charts. He enjoyed a successful club career playing for Oxford United, Derby County, Liverpool, Aston Villa, Galatasaray, Nottingham Forest, Sheffield United and Bradford City.
Vinnie Jones

After finding out that his ancestry on his mother’s side was from Wales, he was entitled to play for the Welsh national team and was awarded eight caps playing for the nation. He was very much part of the Wimbledon team that won the 1988 FA cup final and he then went on to enjoy spells playing for Leeds United, Sheffield United and Chelsea prior a move back to star for Wimbledon in 1992. After making over 250 appearances for the Dons he moved onto become player coach at QPR and retired from playing and has now pursued a successful acting career. |
