Wales 1-0 Denmark
Date Played – June 1987

Wales faced Denmark in Cardiff in a bruising vicious match. Ian Rush, Wales prolific forward, was refused permission to play and the Welsh thought that they would struggle to discover the net in his absence. Wales put on a brave performance and fought tooth and nail to overcome the Danes and went in front through a Mark Hughes goal on 19 minutes. The Welsh were determined to remain ahead and were tough on the Danes. Wales came close to adding a second goal in the second half; however the score line remained 1-0 to Wales and moved above Denmark in the group with the same six points; however they had a better goal difference.
