Brazil 1-0 Wales
Wales reached the quarter finals of the 1958 world cup and met Brazil in the last eight. Wales were without their best player, John Charles and they performed outstandingly well against the South Americans. The Welsh defence held steady against the formidable South American attack. Wales held out until the 65th minute when Pele struck a fine shot which was deflected past the Welsh goal keeper, Kelsey, to clinch a semi final birth for Brazil.
